Food and Culture in Bangladesh

Bangladeshis eat Bhat (boiled rice) as their essential food and major intake. Unlike other foods, bhat is eaten after mixing it with curry. Commonly there is Bhaji (fry) and Bharta (mash), mainly made of countless varieties of vegetables and fishes. Then they take a Jhol (gravy) of different vegetables, cooked independently or mixed or in addition with fish. They also take dal which is a soup made of pulses and alongside add various kinds of pickles to enrich taste.  Among some other widely popular sweetmeats are Sandesh, a milk based dessert, Zarda which is sweetened rice, Rasgolla and Kalojam-two popular milk-based, Rosh Malai round sweets floating in thick milk, and the very renowned Pitha.
