Introduction to China and its history

China, officially the People's Republic of China (PRC), which located in East Asia is a very large country with a total area of 9,596,961 kmand 1.35 billion population. Beijing is the capital of China. The official language in China is Mandarin. It is one of the four great ancient civilisations with very long history.
China used to be a very powerful and advanced country long time ago. It stopped moving on since the governor closed its doors in Qing dynasty. Wars and unequal treaties happened all the time, until 1 January 1912, the Republic of China was established by Sun Yat-sen. The presidency was given to Yuan Shikai who is not a good person, then In the late 1920s, Chiang Kai-shek, the Kuomintang, started to control China.
The Second Sino-Japanese War (1937–1945), a theatre of World War II , forced an uneasy alliance between the Kuomintang and the Communists. After the battle with Japan, Kuomintang lost out to Communists and retreated offshore, reducing the ROC's territory to only Taiwan , Hainan, and their surrounding islands. On 1 October 1949, Communist Party Chairman Mao Zedong proclaimed the establishment of the People's Republic of China which is known as new China nowadays.
